Annabelle Weiss was the dancer on the bar, in real life, she's the librarian, showing her friends the happy dance of the virgin. She had to raise money for her bookmobile at the festival and knows the dance of the horses might be the thing to learn and do it herself. She had divorced her author husband and had moved on.
He witnessed the dance but Shane Stryker was only on the bar for a beer and a burger, then he left. He is the horse whisperer and that is what attracted me to this book. Have seen many shows on documentary tv about them and what they accomplish.
It's just so fascinating. He was now divorced, having married the woman he thought he loved. He moved his horses from TN to Fool's Gold, stabling them at his mothers barns til his house and barns were ready.
His mother was gonna set him up with the librarian. he just wanted a regular woman to love him til he found out she was the red head dancer from the night before, the one who haunted him and his dreams at night.
Montana who was due any day with Simon's baby led the dog into the library. He was a tutor and helped relax himself when the children read to him.
All the females of Fool's Gold are helping Heidi with her wedding plans.
Jo's Bar should have the other room finished for such things as bridal showers and even weddings.
Annabelle was taking horse riding lessons using Charlie's horse and she did grasp onto the killer stallion and they went around the corral a bit til it was time to end the lesson. She couldn't believe the horse was a killer horse. He was so gentle with her on his back.
She was getting tingles when Shane caught her upon unmounting from the horse.
The deal: Her choice of household accessories for him and he was to teach little girls how to ride ponies.
He needs to reword most of what he says to her, he learns in time...
Subplot about Charlie and her past and her wishes arise and she talks to many about it.
Steamy hot sex scenes like riding a horse top off this novel that make it complete.
Love learning about the horses, races and other facts.

Summer Nights Fool Gold Book 8 Susan Mallery 9780373776870 Books Reviews

I downloaded "Summer Nights" and finished it in a matter of hours. Susan Mallery is my favorite author so her books are never a chore to read =) "Summer Nights" stars the second Stryker brother, Shane, and Annabelle, a down-to-earth, bombshell, librarian. I liked that Shane showed more cowboyness (that's a word right???) than Rafe. My favorite animals are horses so add them to a book with a hunky cowboy and I'm set =) I also really liked that Annabelle didn't fit that stereotype of the prim, button-upped librarian. I loved the collection of species included in the story; it made me think back on all the cross species connections I've witnessed with my own animals. It's nice to read books that allow you to catch up with previous characters and see where their lives have taken them. Readers will get a peek at characters all the way from the beginning of the Fool's Gold series. I loved Annabelle's connection with Shane's stallion; she judged the animal based on her experience with him and not what everyone else was saying. Shane and Annabelle's relationship was passionate and sweet but I felt in their attempt to have no drama in their romance that it became too easy and dull. Even when a part of Annabelle's past reappears, the story went way too smoothly. The one thing that annoys me is how fertile all the women in Fool's Gold are. It seems as soon as they meet their soul mates they all end up pregnant. I give "Summer Nights" 4/5 stars. After having read it, I'm sooo excited to read more about Charlie and Clay in "All Summer Long". The brief look into Charlie's past makes me want to get to know her better.
Take one petite but curvy redhead. By day, she's a dedicated librarian whose goal is to buy a bookmobile to reach people who can't come to the library. By night, she's an anything-goes sex goddess. Now, take one man (taller, handsome and wealthier than your average Joe). Put him on a nearby ranch with his race horses and breeding program. Voila! Falling in lust happens within the second sentence of this book. The rest of the story is comprised of Shane trying to resist his attraction because his ex-wife was unfaithful to him, and Annabelle trying to resist her attraction because her ex-husband didn't care about her inner self. As the tale moves along, sluggishly, there's lots of filler in which Shane struggles with his past, discusses it with two of his brothers, Annabelle also discusses it with Shane and with his brothers and with her friends, and...this is one of the author's trademarks constant reiteration of the Past Trauma. Annabelle's ex-husband shows up so she gets her turn at reliving angst. The plot must have seemed too thin even for the author, because sub-plots are tossed in as well. One of Annabelle's friends is avoiding men but thinking of having a baby; another is planning her wedding; Shane's family is uncomfortably aware that his sister is treated like an outcast; another woman in town is planning to have a baby and may have to leave her job (babies play a MAJOR role in Fool's Gold, the setting of a long-running series). Just trying to keep track of all the pregnancies, infants, toddlers and teens is enough to require a score card. Another weakness in this book is that it is the middle of a trilogy. The Fool's Gold series is comprised of a bunch of trilogies, one after another. This book is the middle of the third such trilogy, hampered by the presence of characters from seven previous books and equally weighed down by the foreshadowing of future novels. I enjoy the secondary characters the most, I really like the setting, but this isn't the best in the series.
