This book was a great read.

The author really takes you on a journey through his past experiences as an entrepreneur in a country that was foreign to him. You feel his losses and success and are always wondering what will happen next. I was always rooting for him to succeed in making his dreams come true.

In addition to being a great story, it was also very inspiring. I can see this book giving someone the motivation to chase after their dreams no matter the obstacle, but also teaching a bit of realism at the same time. Life is not always easy and most things that are worth having require a great deal of work. This book pushes that narrative home in way that you can't miss, while also taking the time to remind you that sometimes dreams change.

A young man's adventure story. My Different Orient is an interesting book which I can recommend for every future expat, people thinking about a life overseas as well as world travelers. As the Headline suggests, the book gives an insight into the good, the bad and the ugly side of a life abroad in a way which is funny at times, on the other side it is heart-breaking and dramatic. I enjoyed this read very much and I recommend it as an eye-opening read. (I felt truly immersed into a different culture without having to leave the comfort of my home....)
One of the best things about having an overpopulated planet is that it will never run out of stories like these. Tales of growth. Tales that when told the masses can be shown another perception of things they have never thought of before, or maybe a sudden story like this can become someone’s Kickstarter. Inspiration. My Different Orient, also known as, How To Deal With The Unexpected is a First Pearson told story of Dietmar. A man from Germany who found a bit of everything in the most unexpected of places, Vietnam.
I believe most people can relate to Dietmar. As usually our youthful tendencies get us caught in unwanted situations, but those same dumb tendencies can also lead to something greater than ourselves. As we read his story, we relate to his mentality of wanting to start his own business, be his own boss. Unfortunately, for most people these are simply dreams and whispers never truly made into statements for Dietmar, though, it was different. The book progresses smoothly as if it were a novel but keeps us hooked as if it were a thriller. Because like the title says, many unexpected circumstances occurred. We are left wondering what the young man turning old will do next will he fail? Or will he succeed? Or perhaps a bit of both? As the young man matures, because of certain life-changing events, his ways of thinking mature as well. The book, My Different Orient, is a baby. As we get further into it seems to grow, both withering and blossoming.
In conclusion. My Different Orient, otherwise known as How To Deal With The Unexpected, is an adventure story at its core. Reading this brave man’s efforts, both fruitful and in vain, is a way for the masses to relate. Makes them think what they would do in that situation. Would they be able to trudge through? Or give up like most people? Either way, this book is a short read but contains information of a lifetime. A lifetime that has not ended. In short, a story that has not yet been finished.
