Ronie Kendig is incredible! She is consistently amazing! And she created Tox! Best. Hero. Ever. (The TOX Files Series)A couple of warnings for Nightshade. Do not start reading it 25 minutes before you have to start getting ready for church. You will talk yourself into the belief that you really don’t need all that time to get ready when you really do. Don’t read before bed unless you don’t mind hardly any sleep or struggling to put your contacts in the next morning. Finally, don’t start when waiting in the car for your daughter who will be out in 2 minutes. You might ask her to read to you on the drive to school!
I loved Nightshade! The action starts at the beginning and just keeps going. I really liked the whole concept of a team of discarded heroes working covertly together. I loved ‘meeting’ the other team members and can’t wait to read the other stories in the series.
I also really liked both Max and Sydney, even though there was a time or two or three (I’m talking to you Sydney!) I wanted to pull them aside and have a quick chat with them. The growth in max throughout the book was great to read and believable. I also loved the ending especially the last line! I can’t wait to start book two! Just awesome!

I LOVE this series!! And I'm so incredibly thrilled that it was revamped and released with new (gorgeous!!) covers! One would have to be crazy not to be happy about this. I have the original version of each book and I will purchase each one again as they are re-released because HELLO! Who doesn't want to read new content from a series they already love?!? A huge thank you to Ronie for taking the time to do this!!
I also read the first edition of Nightshade around 2012, loved it then, loved it this time around.
I must say that at first I thought the first version was the best, but after finishing the second one, they are both really great. I do have the first copies of the series and can't wait to read the new versions of the upcoming books. Ronie Kendig is my favorite author and have to confess to rereading anything she writes several times over.
Intense storyline - great plot - makes you root for the characters to choose well and persevere in spite of odds. Love her books!
Didn't read theses books when they were releases before,but glad I decided to try the prerelease. Loved the raw emotions and dealing with the real affects of combat. I also was rooting for the characters and gripped by the constant twists and action. Could hardly put it down.
It's fast-paced, full of suspense, a page burner all of this and more! Interwoven with a story of love that's been crushed yet hasn't died. It's a story of heroes and misguided betrayal attempts. I couldn't put it down, yet did, so that I could absorb what was going on without moving past meaty stuff. I am impatiently waiting for the next one. Thanks, Ms. Kendig, for sharing your gift of story telling and your skill at your craft.
How have I not read this series before??? When the series originally came out, I had not read this author's work yet. Since then, I have read everything I can get my hands on! Now, with the new rewrites and updates to the series, I decided it was a perfect time to catch up!
I'm so glad I did! I could hardly set this book down because I was so invested with these two characters. Nightshade was action packed and did a great job of introducing the characters that I know will be part of the series.
And I really liked both Max and Sydney, even though I felt that each of them made some decisions that would hurt the other at times. But, it all worked so well together to blend into the perfect situations that were filled with tension. I loved it!
